Stop at the traditional fishermen’s village for a detailed explanation of its history and the lives of the local fishermen, whose traditions shaped the community for generations. Learn about poncha, the iconic island drink originally made by fishermen, including its ingredients and preparation. Hear also about Winston Churchill’s historic visit, which inspired some of his famous paintings From the bay. After the introduction, guests take a short walk through the village, passing Churchill’s statue and several creative monuments made from recycled materials, including a striking monk seal sculpture. The stroll continues to the opposite side of the bay, offering an incredible panoramic view of the coastline and the charming village.

Estrada da Quinta de Santo António

Stop at Quinta de Santo António, at SafariCo’s private and exclusive viewpoint, offering an incredible panorama over the company’s own sugarcane fields. Here, guests receive a brief explanation of local agriculture, including the traditional methods used in sugarcane cultivation and the region’s favourable conditions for growing grapes, both proudly produced by SafariCo.

FIDY PONCHA bar

Stop at a local bar, a typical Madeiran tasca, for a tasting of poncha, the island’s traditional drink. Here, guests enjoy an authentic atmosphere while the guide explains how poncha is made, from the fresh citrus and local sugarcane rum to the traditional mixing technique.
