Day 1: Hanoi to Ban Gioc Area
Set off towards the far northern frontier, where vast mountain ranges and ethnic villages await. Begin the scenic drive to the legendary Ban Gioc Waterfall, shared by Vietnam and China and often listed among the most stunning cascades on Earth. Relax and enjoy mountain roads, rice valleys, and rural life along the way.
Arrive in the Cao Bang region and enjoy a warm local lunch at an authentic countryside restaurant. Continue to the mystical Mat Than Mountain (“God’s Eye Mountain”) — known for its dramatic limestone arch and circular “heaven’s window” opening in the cliff face. A true natural marvel and photography hotspot.
Then, travel deeper through karst landscapes to explore Nguom Ngao Cave, also called Tiger Cave — a spectacular underground world filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and echoing chambers carved by nature over millennia. Arrive at your hotel in the Ban Gioc area. Check in and unwind with mountain views and fresh air. Enjoy a peaceful night surrounded by tranquil countryside.
Day 2: Ban Gioc Pagoda and Waterfall
Start your day with breakfast and hotel check-out. Visit Ban Gioc Pagoda, perched above the valley. From here, admire sweeping views of the waterfall, border mountains, and the frontier line between Vietnam and China. Continue towards the riverbank and the waterfall area.
Explore Ban Gioc Waterfall up close — a powerful, multi-tiered cascade surrounded by rice fields and forested peaks. Feel the mist, take photos, and enjoy one of Vietnam’s most iconic natural wonders. Enjoy lunch in Quang Uyen District, savouring regional specialities. After the meal, back to Hanoi.
