Visit Varaždin County in one day. Take a walk through the city of Varaždin, get to know the rich history of this city through stories and legends. Because of its history, the city is also known as “little Vienna”, “little Rome” and “city of angels”, and because of its beautiful architecture from the Baroque era. The jewel of the north will surely enchant you with its picturesque streets that are over 900 years old.
After that, your next stop will be the beautiful Varaždinske Toplice, where you will visit an archaeological site from the Roman era known as Aquae Iasae, and through the storey you will be able to go back to the time of the ancient Romans who enjoyed the benefits of healing water and baths here.
Your introduction to the Varaždin County does not end here, but we continue to the town of Lepoglava, where you will visit the Pauline Monastery and the Parish Church. The parish church is a hidden gem because the interior frescoes were painted by the famous Pauline painter Ivan Ranger 500 years ago. Here we will take a break for lunch.
At the end of the tour, we go to Trakošćan, where the most beautiful and most visited castle in Croatia is located. In the castle itself, there is a permanent museum showing the life of the nobility from the 14th to the 20th century.
