One of the delights of visiting the Cotswold is exploring the different areas, each with its own identity, yet all with those defining Cotswold features: golden stone and rolling hills. On this tour you will be visiting, Burton on the water. Also known as the “Venice of the Cotswolds,” Bourton on Water is one of the prettiest villages in England. Built from the local golden coloured stone, the houses and cottages make a picture perfect, charming village and a very popular tourist attraction. Many of the houses are three hundred years old and some are from the Elizabethan era. The River Windrush gently flows through the village with neat stone banks and tree shaded greens. There are also several elegant 18th century low stone bridges that cross the water and connect the many Cotswold homes. These five stone bridges provide the access from one side of the river to the other. During the summer locals and guests alike sit along the river in the village centre and children paddle and cool off in its shallow waters.
Another village on this list Bibury, It is the most beautiful village in England' – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln. Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is one of England's most iconic and photographed sites – it even appears on the inside cover of UK passports. With quaint cottages and the pretty River Coln, Bibury is an utterly charming village in the heart of the Cotswolds. It is famed for being home to the iconic Arlington Row, a row of postcard-perfect cottages from the 14th century.
For Lunch we will be making a stop in Burford. Over the years, Burford has become one of the most popular places to visit in The Cotswolds. The reason for this is down to its location. Dubbed the gateway to The Cotswolds, it's often the first stop for many travellers. Furthermore, Burford is also well-loved for shopping and great pubs.
All in all we expect our travellers to enjoy a fantastic day out, and taking away with them a lot of memories, memories that will want them to come back here again and again. Your tour will end back at your hotel.
