Explore the Wildlife of Cahuita!
Cahuita National Park is one of the best places in Costa Rica to see animals up close, in their natural habitat. This 1.5-2 hour guided walk follows a flat and easy trail along the coast. You will walk through the jungle, while seeing the ocean at the same time.
Find Hidden Animals with Expert Guides
Many animals in the park stay very still to hide in the trees. Our team of licensed guides are experts at spotting wildlife. They have a “good eye” for finding creatures that are hard to see. Guests often see many animals within the first 200 metres of the walk. You will look for white faced capuchin monkeys and slow moving sloths. You will also see exotic birds and lizards in the secondary growth.
The Wildlife of Cahuita
The park is home to a high density of animals. You can expect to see several species during your tour.
Sloths: Look for two-toed and three-toed sloths hanging in the high branches.
Monkeys: Watch white-faced capuchins and howler monkeys moving through the canopy.
Birds: Spot colourful toucans, trogons, and hawks.
Reptiles: Find green iguanas, lizards, and various snakes, including the eyelash viper.
Insects: See leaf-cutter ants and beautiful blue morpho butterflies.
A Fun and Educational Experience
Our guides make the tour fun and share their knowledge about the park. They'll help you understand the behaviours of the animals you see. We move at a slow pace so you can take many photos. We also have a telescope lens that allows you to take photos with your phone. This park is one the best ways to experience the natural biodiversity of the Limón Province.
Visit the Beautiful Beaches
The tour ends at Punta Cahuita, the famous white sand beach of Cahuita. After the walk is finished, you can stay in the park to enjoy the beach and the view! It's located right next to the trail, and there are covered picnic areas within the park trails as well. It is a perfect way to spend your day in nature.
