Begin your tour one hour after your cruise ship arrives at Costa Maya Port. Meet your English-speaking guide and travel to Chacchoben village, where a local Mayan family welcomes you into their home.
Get to know your hosts as they share their daily life and traditions. Watch how they make tortillas, then take your turn shaping your own. Roll up your sleeves, share a few laughs, and connect with the people who keep these traditions alive.
Then gather around for a home-cooked lunch featuring traditional tamales and other dishes made with fresh, local ingredients and Mayan spices. Your hosts will introduce the ingredients and family recipes behind the meal. Try a little habanero sauce if you enjoy some heat. Your visit directly supports the participating families of Chacchoben village.
Next, trade the family kitchen for the blue waters of Bacalar Lagoon. Spend nearly two hours at a lakeside club with direct access to the water. Take a kayak out to explore, cool off with a swim, float in a tube, or settle into a lounger and enjoy the view. Kayaks, tubes, loungers, and umbrellas are included, with life jackets provided and required for all water activities.
Enjoy iced tea or Mexican aguas frescas, including hibiscus or horchata, as you relax by the lagoon. Guests aged 21 and older can also choose two included beers or classic cocktails. Premium drinks are available for an additional charge.
After a day of handmade tortillas, warm welcomes, and lagoon breezes, return to Costa Maya with return transport included.
