What you can expect

  • Discover Cologne through its food on a relaxed, self-paced day of tasting, exploring, and meeting the people behind the city's most characterful kitchens. This is your ticket to the “Kulinarische Schnitzeljagd” – a one-of-a-kind culinary tour that lets you taste the city anew, alone or with friends, by bike or any way you like.

On your chosen Saturday between 11:00 and 18:00, set off across Cologne and visit up to 10–12 hand-picked restaurants, cafés, delis, bars, or small manufactories. At every stop, a free culinary surprise awaits – it might be a slice of cake, a soup, a glass of wine, a quiche, or a small tasting flight. Each shop prepares something special for you, and there's always a vegetarian or non-alcoholic alternative so everyone finds something to enjoy.

You decide where to begin, where to end, which spots to linger in, and how to get around. There's no fixed group, no guide, no schedule beyond the seven-hour window. Around two weeks before your tour, you'll receive a list of all participating locations with their addresses plus suggested bike-friendly routes for Google Maps and Komoot. Most participants explore on bike – the routes typically run between 15 and 25 kilometres – but the city is yours to discover at your own pace.

Up to 400 fellow tasters are out and about on the same day, all easy to spot thanks to the colourful event wristband you'll wear. It's an effortless way to meet other food lovers along the route and turn a tasting day into a shared experience.

Each Cologne date follows its own theme:

30 May 2026 – Dom, Rhine and Grüngürtel: Enjoy beautiful views of the cathedral, pass the Zollhafen, ride past the university and the Aachener Weiher, and finish out in Ehrenfeld – a varied and genuinely scenic ride through the city.
27 June 2026 – Vegan & vegetarian edition: Every stop on this route serves a vegan tasting, often with an additional vegetarian alternative – ideal for plant-based food lovers.
25 July 2026 – Herkulesberg, Aachener Weiher and Melaten: A route that leads over the Herkulesberg and past the Aachener Weiher and the historic Melaten Cemetery.
5 September 2026: Another full Saturday of culinary discoveries across Cologne.

Tickets are limited per date, and your participant wristband is sent to you by post after booking. Shortly before the tour, you'll receive an email with all the practical details, the final list of shops, and the route links. The “Kulinarische Schnitzeljagd” is designed first and foremost for adults; children up to 11 take part for free, and from 12 years a separate ticket is required.

If you love food, cycling, and exploring a city in a slower, tastier way, this is your day in Cologne.
