Experience the Cinque Terre from the water on this 2.5-hour coastal swim experience departing from Riomaggiore. The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and protected National Park, known for its dramatic cliffs, terraced vineyards, and colourful fishing villages.
As we leave Riomaggiore, you’ll see the Santuario di Montenero perched high above the village. Built in 1335, this historic sanctuary is an important pilgrimage site and a popular hiking destination offering sweeping views over the coastline.
This small-group experience is designed for guests who want to combine swimming, sea caves, history, and photography in a relaxed format.
Cruise beneath the cliffs and pass under the famous Via dell’Amore as we continue along the coastline towards Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. We pause in front of each village to capture unique and unforgettable photos from the sea — a perspective few visitors experience.
Along the way, your captain — born and raised in the Cinque Terre — shares stories about local life, maritime traditions, and the region’s history. The captains’ families have roots in the area dating back to the 1400s and 1500s, offering generations of knowledge about the coastline.
Near Vernazza, explore natural sea caves formed by the rock formations of the cliffs. Enjoy swimming stops in carefully selected locations with clear Mediterranean water, including the secluded Guvano Beach area, which is accessible only by boat.
In Monterosso, view historic World War II bunkers built into the cliffs. On the return journey, cruise slightly offshore for a wider panoramic view of the coastline and open sea, where dolphins are occasionally spotted (wildlife sightings are not guaranteed).
You may also observe local fish species, including occhiate, swimming near the surface.
Snorkelling masks are included for guests who wish to explore underwater. Life jackets are available on board. There is no minimum age requirement; however, children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
This experience is conducted in English and is limited to a maximum of 11 guests for a more personal atmosphere.
