Description

Spend a sophisticated day exploring the birthplace of bubbly in the Champagne region in France. Depart from central Paris on board your private climate-controlled coach with your connoisseur guide. Glide through the countryside north of the capital to the village of Éparnay.

This village is home to the iconic producers of fine French champagne. Here, you'll visit the dynamic new Nicolas Feuillatte House, to have your first tasting before roaming down the Avenue de Champagne. As this is considered the most expensive street in France, your guide will be on hand to help you with lunch suggestions in the village.

In the afternoon, your coach will ferry you through an ocean of vines along the Route de Champagne to the village of Hautvillers. Known as the cradle of Champagne, you’ll see the stone abbey where legend has it, a monk by the name of Dom Pérignon first stumbled on the recipe for champagne by accident.

This ground-breaking discovery was fine-tuned at the nearby chateau of Veuve Clicquot. Here, you will see how this traditional family-owned operation runs from start to finish. You’ll discover how the grapes are tended in the fields and how the vineyard is managed. After a tour of the family cellars containing rare bottles, it is time for a tasting of 3 of their award-winning champagnes. Take one last look over the estate from the terraces of the chateau before returning to Paris.

City Wonders did a solid job! Our tour guide Michelle was amazing! She was genuine, knowledgeable, and so fun! It was great to experience a large champagne and a smaller, grower champagne house. Loved the little bit of free time in town!
