This was a lovely day! My guide Guillaume was great, very knowledgeable about the region. We visited the city of Reims first, mainly for restrooms/breakfast stop and to visit the cathedral. We then headed to Pierre Domi champagne, where we toured the facilities and got to taste 3 different champagne that Stéphane, the current owner, is producing. The champagne was amazingly good! Make sure to stock up on some bottles while you are there, as the owner only sells locally. The bottles are very decently priced too! After lunch, we headed to the Moêt & Chandon winery mansion. After a quick history of the house and family tree, we toured the celliers just below the mansion, which were very impressive and much larger than I excepted. After the tour, we got to enjoy one glass of the famous champagne, which was delicious of course. We finally headed to a small town where Dom Perignon is buried, then safely made our way back to the city of Paris.

We did a small group tour of the Champagne district, with stops in Reims and Epernay and visits to two champagne producers. Our guide and driver, Jean-Philippe was extremely personable and well versed in the cultivation of the three grape varietals that are used in champagne production, as well as the laborious process involved in arriving at the final product. The highlight was a visit to Pierre Domi (a small champagne producer) where we got a personalized tour from the founder’s grandson Stephane, followed by a tasting of three of their champagnes. This was followed by a stop at the Moet & Chandon visitor centre for another tasting and a somewhat more formal tour of the caves and a lesson on the history of the brand. Great day and a special thanks to Jean-Philippe for being an excellent host
