What you can expect
Experience a high-altitude expedition in the central Andes with this 3-day ascent to Cerro El Plomo (5,424 m), one of the most iconic and sought-after peaks for those visiting Santiago.
This programme is designed as a progressive mountain experience, combining approach, high-altitude camping, and a demanding summit attempt. Throughout the route, you will travel across high-mountain terrain with open views of the central Andes and surrounding iconic peaks.
Beyond the high physical challenge, Cerro El Plomo holds strong cultural significance. Considered an Apu in Andean cosmology, it was used by the Incas for ceremonial purposes. At its summit, the famous “Momia del Plomo” was discovered, one of the most important archaeological findings in the region.
The second day is the key point of the expedition: the summit attempt. This is a long and demanding day, where altitude and energy management are critical. The experience can be adapted depending on the group’s pace, weather conditions, and logistics, always prioritising safety and quality execution.
Optionally, mule support is available at an additional cost to transport your gear to and from high camp, allowing you to hike without carrying heavy loads.
For those looking to improve acclimatisation and increase summit success, there is the option to extend the programme to 4 or 5 days, adding extra days for altitude adaptation.
An ideal experience for those seeking a true high-altitude challenge near Santiago, with professional logistics and a strong focus on safety.
