To explore the Cenas Bog is easy because it is located approximately 20 kilometres west of Riga. It is a Natura protected area and one of Latvia's nature reserves. It was formed 5000 years ago and is about 20000 ha, but due to human activities it has decreased to 6000 ha at the moment. Peat mining is still taking place in the small part of bog, and it is possible to see the field of peat mining. The most visited in Latvia by visitors local and foreign is Kemeri National park Bog trail. But, there are another not so popular, but definitely more picturesque and not so bussy - Cenas Bog or Cenas Moorland. Wooden path leads through the Bog, near smaller ponds and biger lakes and plantations of Leatherleafs and Marsh Tea e.t.c. This is ideal place for Nature photos for Social Media as well. After visiting Bog, short stop at most popular bakery “Laci” is planned.
