Trip Itinerary:
Pickup takes place at hotels in the area, including those in Crespo, Marbella, Cabrero, Bocagrande, Laguito, or Castillo Grande, starting at 7:00 a.m.; the exact time will vary depending on the hotel.
Next, we will depart for Barú from the end point at approximately 8:30 a.m. The journey may take between 45 minutes and 1 hour, depending on traffic, as we pass through the industrial area of Mamonal and then reach the bridge that connects Cartagena with Barú Island, where we cross the arm of the Magdalena River known as the “Canal del Dique.”
Once on Barú, the island has three towns: Ararca, Santana, and the final district, Barú, which is home to island fishermen who now rely on tourism as their main source of income. In this case, we will only pass through Ararca and Santana. After a 5-minute drive, we will come to a trail-like turnoff that will lead us to our destination.
Next, we will come to a set of rustic concrete steps that will take us to the earthly paradise known as “PLAYA BLANCA,” the flagship beach of Barú Island, stretching 2.4 kilometres (1.5 miles) and divided into different sections. We will see the main section, which is popular due to its high number of visitors, as we descend the steps. To reach the Playa Tranquila section, which is characterised by fewer people and where our restaurant “MÁNDALA BEACH” is located, we will need to walk for 10 minutes along the beach path.
At the agency's restaurant, guests will enjoy the lunch of their choice, selected in advance based on their package. Lunch will be served from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you wish to use the restaurant's facilities, such as the bathrooms, urinals, or changing room, you may do so completely free of charge. Please note that the tables and chairs in the restaurant are for lunch use only. Customers can rent chairs and tents in front of the restaurant or outside it, choosing their location and preference. Your guide will let you know what time you need to be ready to return. Unless otherwise specified, the return time will be 3:00 PM.
