What you can expect

  • The National Portrait Gallery reflects the diverse faces of Australia. We are the place where the national storey unfolds with clarity and openness. Through the art of portraiture, we tell Australian stories to increase understanding and appreciation of Australian people – their identity, history, culture, creativity and diversity.

The National Portrait Gallery offers a boutique gallery experience. Our intimate, architecturally designed building was created with human proportions in mind, bringing visitors face-to-face with portraits of those who have shaped the nation.
