You'll travel anti-clockwise around the Cabot Trail in order to get the best views, ending right back where you started. Along the way we'll point out must-see sights, tell you about things to do like attractions & museums and give you some background on the breathtaking vistas you'll see.

Hear about the peoples that made the area famous like the Scots and Alexander Graham Bell. Pass by the Great Hall of the Clans, visit an abandoned Acadian Village and learn of the first Acadians. Hear from an Irish Settler, Saoirse herself, the French and original peoples of the land, the Mi’kmaq.

We’ll tell you of the many wonderful trails along the route like the Barachois River Trail, MacIntosh Brook, the very accessible Beulach Ban Falls and look-offs at Cape Smokey and the most photographed spot on the Cabot Trail, the Skyline Trail. The Cape Breton Highlands National Park offers many trails to choose from and there’s even the Lake-Law Picnic Park, which is actually a super small Provincial Park where you can stop for a break.

While taking in the panoramic views hear the history of the Plaister Mines and gypsum mining, the Bras d’Or terrane, crown land and wilderness, the Appalachians, the Acadian forest and many rivers you will be going by. You’ll hear of the mining at the Middle River Wilderness Area and some of the local wildlife that call the island home.

Visit the famous Wreck Cove General Store, the communities of Ingonish, Neil’s Harbour, and the Keltic Highland of Middle Head. Take a magical 15 minute walk through 350 year old sugar maples to the Lone Shieling. Enjoy breathtaking views at The Veteran’s Monument and visit the Acadian town of Cheticamp and Grand Etang Harbour.

See Canada’s largest inland sea, Bras d’Or Lakes, Goose Cove, and the Gulf of St. Lawrence where you can check out the interpretive panels telling the storey of its sea life and maybe even see a whale. Visit the Wharf and beautiful coastline of Belle Cote and then cross the incredible bridge over the Margaree River.
