The Essence of Kefalonia bus tour begins at the cruise terminal bus meeting point in Argostoli, where our guide will welcome you.
After a half-hour bus ride, we arrive at our first stop at the charming village of Vlachata. This village is home to a family-run bee farm, Michalatos Honey. Here, in one hour, we explore the types of products the Kefalonian bees produce and taste the purest honey in the world, collected directly from their own apiary.
We continue the tour to Liocharis Olive Mill, a local olive oil producer known for its high-quality and cold-pressed olive oil. In one hour, one of the owners presents the process from olive to olive oil. After this interactive presentation, we continue the visit by tasting the olive oil from a virgin perspective.
Next, the tour leads us to the historical viewpoint of Saint George’s Castle, built in the Byzantine Era and once the capital of Kefalonia. According to many locals, the panoramic view from this castle on the inland region of Livathos surpasses the view from Myrtos beach. Nearby the castle, we see a beautiful church from 1580
Our last stop brings us to Gentilini Winery and Vineyards, one of Kefalonia’s most renowned family-owned wine estates. Here, we enjoy a guided tour of the wine production and vineyards, followed by a tasting of local wines. Children could enjoy grape juice instead.
After the wine tasting and tour, the bus returns to the meeting point in Argostoli, where we conclude with a sense of fulfilment.
