What you can expect

Step into the timeless city of Bukhara, a living museum of Islamic culture, history, and architecture. This immersive tour takes you through centuries of civilisation, offering a unique glimpse into the spiritual and cultural heart of Central Asia.

Begin your journey at the serene Lyabi Khause Ensemble, a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Built around a tranquil pond in the 17th century, the ensemble is surrounded by beautiful madrasahs and the impressive Khanaka Nodir Devonbegi, a Sufi lodge originally intended for spiritual retreats and now admired for its intricate tilework and majestic façade.

Continue to the magnificent Miri Arab Madrasah, one of the most iconic religious schools in the Islamic world. Dating back to the 16th century, this functioning madrasah boasts stunning architecture, featuring majestic blue domes, finely carved mosaics, and a rich legacy of religious scholarship.

Just a short walk away, discover the Magoki Attori Mosque, one of the oldest surviving mosques in Central Asia. This unique structure, partially sunken below ground level, reveals layers of history—from pre-Islamic Zoroastrian temples to early Islamic construction—offering a rare insight into Bukhara’s diverse religious past.

Your tour continues at the awe-inspiring Kalyan Complex, the spiritual centrepiece of the city. Dominated by the towering Kalyan Minaret, also known as the “Tower of Death,” the complex also includes the vast Kalyan Mosque and the Miri Arab Madrasah, creating one of the most breathtaking Islamic ensembles in the region.

Finally, step into the ancient Ark of Bukhara, a massive royal fortress that once served as the residence of Bukhara’s emirs. Within its thick walls lie centuries of political power, culture, and legend. Explore the royal court, throne room, and historic museums that now tell the storey of this fabled city.

This tour offers not just a walk through historical sites, but a deep dive into the soul of Bukhara—its spiritual traditions, artistic excellence, and enduring legacy as one of the Silk Road’s most important cities.
