What you can expect

Discover the highlights of Buenos Aires on a guided walking tour. Explore the areas of Barrio Norte, Recoleta, the City Centre, and San Telmo. See the city's most famous landmarks, including Recoleta Cemetery, The Obelisk, Plaza de Mayo, and the San Telmo Market.

Begin your tour in the Barrio Norte area. See El Ateneo Grand Splendid, one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world. Stroll through the leafy green Plaza Rodriguez Peña, site of the Palacio Sarmiento, home to Argentina’s Ministry of Education.

Next, visit the Palacio de Aguas Corrientes, a stunning surprise of a building with a fascinating storey behind it. Continue to the Recoleta area and see the famous Recoleta Cemetery, a city within a city, boasting elaborate tombs of Argentina’s rich and famous.

Visit the last resting place of Eva Perón (Evita), Argentina’s most acclaimed icon, alongside countless hauntingly beautiful mausoleums inside the cemetery walls. Stroll through Plaza Francia, home to the striking Our Lady of Pilar Church, one of the best-preserved examples of colonial architecture in the city.

Head to the San Nicolas area and see the Teatro Colon, one of the most famous Opera Houses in the world. Stroll through Plaza Lavalle, including the Palacio de Justicia de la Nación, home to Argentina’s Supreme Court.

See the widest avenue in the world, Avenida 9 de Julio, where the famous Buenos Aires Obelisco monument is located. Take a photo with the “green BA” sign, a great Buenos Aires photo-op. Stroll down Avenida Corrientes, “the street that never sleeps,” and see the Confiteria La Ideal, a beautifully restored old cafe.

Visit Florida Street, the city’s main pedestrian shopping area, where you’ll find the gorgeous Galería Güemes. Explore the Historical City Centre, part of Monserrat. See the main square of Buenos Aires, Plaza de Mayo, where the city was successfully founded in 1580 and from where it began to grow.

Admire the Pink House, Casa Rosada, home to the executive government branch and the famous balcony where President Perón and first lady Evita used to address the crowds. See the oldest sites in Buenos Aires, including the first church, street, and business in the city, plus the oldest subway line in the southern hemisphere.

Visit the Buenos Aires Cathedral, last resting place of Argentina’s independence hero, and where Pope Francis used to give mass.

Finally, visit the San Telmo area. Stroll through Plaza Dorrego, one of the city’s oldest and most popular squares, dotted with atmospheric bars and restaurants, and handicraft sellers. Visit the San Telmo Indoor Market, an impressive iron structure built in 1897, filled with antiques, souvenirs, and restaurants, all alongside local market vendors of fresh food and produce.

Walk down Defensa Street, a cobblestone road cutting through the heart of San Telmo, famous for its many antique dealers and original Spanish and Italian architecture.
