What you can expect

Explore Brussels, the birthplace of Hergé and the city that inspired many scenes and stories in the world of Tintin. Follow in the footsteps of Hergé and discover the places that inspired him and that pay homage to him.

Meet your guide in front of the Musée de la BD and set off on a walking tour to the Parc du Cinquantenaire. Hear about Hergé, whose real name was Georges Remi, and how he spent most of his life in the Brussels region.

Learn how his early talent for drawing was noticed during his school years. Deeply involved in scouting, which would later influence his storytelling, Hergé began his career in a scout magazine under the signature “R.G.”.

Hear how he later worked at the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle, where he created Tintin in 1929 for its youth supplement Le Petit Vingtième. That same year marked the beginning of a revolutionary new genre in European comics: he published his first comic, Tintin au Pays des Soviets.

Tintin is a young reporter known for his intelligence, courage, and relentless curiosity. Always accompanied by his faithful dog Snowy (Milou in French), he travels the world to solve mysteries and uncover conspiracies. The series, which includes 24 albums, blends adventure, political satire, science fiction, and elements of detective fiction.

Along the way, Tintin is joined by a memorable cast of characters, such as the grumpy but loyal Captain Haddock, the brilliant yet absent-minded Professor Calculus, and the bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson. From Tintin au Pays des Soviets in 1929 to the unfinished Tintin and Alph-Art, the series has sold nearly 250 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 70 languages.

Stop at the Théâtre de la Monnaie, where Hergé found inspiration for The Seven Crystal Balls in the opulent interiors of the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels. The richly detailed setting of the fictional Music Hall Palace in the comic reflects the grandeur and atmosphere of this real-life venue.

Hergé also drew influence from two other Brussels theatres, the Théâtre des Galeries and the Théâtre du Parc, blending elements of all three to create the comic's theatrical backdrop.

Please note that the tour does not include any tour inside of a museum
