The background storey:
The Märit (Bernese for 'market') takes place on Tuesday and Saturday morning and is a great option to explore local Swiss food specialities. We discovered that most tourists are left out of the market as tasting samples are not always possible, cash not at hand or the payment system Twint not possible for foreigners. Our mission is to change that and give you the full market experience.
We are Dani and Roman, originally from Eastern Switzerland, moved here a couple of years ago and fell in love with the variety of the Bernese Märit.

What we do in brief:
Join us for our weekly grocery shopping to explore the market, get some nibbles on the way, buy the ingredients for a self-made brunch in our apartment in the old town of Bern.

What we do in detail:
The tour starts with an early visit to avoid queues. We stop at the two largest parts of the market in Münstergasse and on Bundesplatz. We will try some food, hear stories from local farmers and sellers and purchase what we like to try and eat at the brunch.

With full shopping bags, we will make our way to our apartment in the upper old town of Bern. After a coffee (of course from the market) we start preparing the brunch from the fresh products we just bought and enjoy until around noon.

What's included:
Your participation fee covers all the costs for the tour, the food we buy and some additional ingredients of the brunch. We are curious people and so should you be: Please enjoy the company of the others and make it memorable for all participants.

What to pay attention to:
The Swiss food market consists largely of cheese and dried meat. If you have any dietary restrictions it is not impossible to join, but options are limited.
We only host up to 4 people at a time, whereby one party cannot be more than 3 people.
