Overview

Sachsenhausen was the first purpose-built concentration camp, created as a centre of terror, persecution, and systematic brutality. Initially, it imprisoned those the Nazi regime considered racially, socially, or politically undesirable.

Travel through the town of Oranienburg and learn how the local community was connected to the camp. Sachsenhausen former concentration camp. Arrive at the former Camp and walk around the interiors of the first camp specifically built to be a concentration camp, not using existing structures. See the old barracks, Prison cells and torture cells, Camp kitchen, Station Z (where mass executions took place), the gas chamber and crematorium. You'll also see the infirmaries and pathology centre, as well as Tower A - the main guard tower.
