The UNESCO 46th World Heritage Committee has inscribed the “Beijing Central Axis—A Masterpiece of Chinese Ideal Capital Planning” into the World Heritage List. The Beijing Central Axis, which runs through the old city from north to south, began construction in the 13th century and took its definitive shape in the 16th century. Through centuries of evolution, it has become the world's longest urban axis at 7.8 kilometres. This remarkable feature showcases China's ancient imperial system and urban planning traditions while bearing witness to Beijing's urban transformation.

Our cycling route along Beijing's historic Central Axis begins at the Temple of Heaven and heads north through Yongdingmen Gate, Sanlihe, Qianmen Dashilan, Dongjiaomin Lane, and Shichahai, before finally reaching the Drum Tower. By bicycle, we'll weave through historical sites and hutongs, experiencing the vibrant daily life and warm hospitality of old Beijing.
