It was given its name because the towers on its summit resemble those of a Gothic cathedral. During the winter, its Antonio M. Lynch Winter Sports Centre hosts national and international skiing and snowboarding events, including professional and amateur competitions, as well as other snow-related disciplines.

This ski centre boasts all the necessary infrastructure and services, placing it on a par with the most famous ski resorts in Europe. From the base, various lifts lead to different platforms, which feature cafés and restaurants to suit all tastes. The entire descent can be made by skiing (during winter) on the various slopes, by gondola lift, or by chairlift. During the other seasons of the year, some of the lifts are not in operation, but this mountain becomes a perfect setting for outdoor walks and trekking.
