DAY 01:
07:30 am - Pickup at hotels in city centre Arequipa.
08:00 am - We begin our journey to one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world. Our operational point will be the town of Chivay, which we will reach in approximately 4 hours, including all tourist stops. As our first point, we will pass through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we can appreciate the vicuñas that live in this area. Then, very close by, we will visit Patahuasi to enjoy the traditional coca tea, a drink essential for altitude sickness. We will also make a brief stop at the Toccra Bofedales, where we will observe a large number of alpacas grazing freely in the area. A mandatory stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point on the road at 4,800 metres above sea level, from where we will appreciate a large part of the western mountain range. From this point, it will take us only 40 minutes to reach the town of Chivay.
12:30 pm - We will arrive in Chivay to enjoy a delicious lunch (customer's expense). After lunch, we will check into our respective hotels. In the afternoon, we can enjoy a relaxing bath in the Hot Springs (optional entry paid by the customer), where the thermomineral waters range from 35º C to 38º C in the pools.
For dinner (customer's expense), we can enjoy a folkloric show with typical dances from the area. Overnight stay in Chivay.
DAY 02:
Breakfast. After breakfast, we will transfer to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, which is 30 minutes away. This is the observation point for the Colca Canyon and the spectacular flight of the condor. We will spend an average of 45 minutes here to admire the beauty of the Colca Canyon.
On our return, we will stop at the viewpoints in the area from where we will observe the impressive terraces of the valley and in the town of Maca, where we will see its church and optionally taste local drinks like the Colca Sour, made with local products.
12:00 pm - Lunch in Chivay (customer's expense).
01:00 pm - We will head back to the city of Arequipa. If we did not visit any points on the way to Chivay on the first day, we can make stops on the return to see all the tourist stops, depending on the time and the group.
05:00 pm - We will arrive in the city of Arequipa and drop you off near the main square.
