What you can expect

  • The Aljaferia Palace was built by order of Al-Muqtadir, king of the Taifa of Zaragoza, in the 11th century as a place for recreation and enjoyment. Still the northernmost Muslim palace in Europe today, this palace complex was also called the Palace of Joy because of its beauty and decoration. Renovated and expanded by the Christian kings of Aragon, it became the seat of the court of the Kingdom of Aragon and of the Catholic Monarchs, who enlarged its dimensions while maintaining the slender silhouette of bygone times.
