Know before you book

    • Entrance to Los Glaciares National Park: This is not included in the tour price. The approximate cost is ARS 50,000 per person and must be paid upon entering the park. Payment can be made in cash or by Visa card, in Argentine pesos only. Mastercard is not accepted.
    • Age restrictions: This activity is suitable exclusively for people aged 8 to 65 inclusive, without exception. If minors under the age of 18 participate without their parents, they may only do so with written authorisation from them, specifying the full details of the supervising adult in charge.
    • Medical restrictions: Pregnant women and people with obesity and sedentary lifestyles are not eligible to participate; nor are those with respiratory illnesses such as COPD, asthma, or emphysema; central or peripheral cardiovascular conditions; reduced cardiac or vascular capacity; stents, bypasses,
    • pacemakers, or other prostheses; physical or mental disabilities that affect attention, gait, or coordination; recent fractures; serious spinal or knee problems; or recent surgeries.
    • Evaluation for participation: If, at the start of the excursion, a person presents any of the aforementioned exclusionary conditions or has difficulty walking independently, they will not be able to participate. In these cases, no refund will be issued.
    • Recommended clothing: Thermal shirt and leggings, warm jumper and jacket, windproof and waterproof jacket, trekking pants, waterproof hiking or athletic shoes, thermal socks or two pairs of socks, gloves, warm hat, sunglasses, and sun cream.
    • To confirm your booking, you must send the following information for all passengers: Full name, Passport or national identity card number, Nationality, Date of birth, Photograph of the passport of minors, Hotel (if you purchased the option with transfers).
    • Schedule: The published schedule is an estimate. Once all the information required to confirm the booking has been received, our team will inform you of the exact start time.
    • Food: Food is not included and there are no places to purchase it during the excursion. Each passenger must bring their own food from El Calafate.

What you can expect

  • Prepare for a unique and unforgettable experience in the majestic Los Glaciares National Park. The excursion begins with passenger pick-up in El Calafate (if you choose the option with transfers). On our comfortable buses, en route to Los Glaciares National Park, tour guides will provide information about the area, the glacier, and the excursion.

    Once at the “Bajo de las Sombras” port (Route 11, 70 km from El Calafate), you will board a boat to cross Lake Rico, arriving on the opposite shore after approximately 20 minutes of sailing in front of the imposing southern face of the Perito Moreno Glacier.

    Upon disembarking, you will be greeted by our expert mountain guides, who will lead you to a cosy refuge with a privileged view of the glacier. From here, the trek begins! We will start the tour with a walk along the lake shore, keeping our eyes on the glacier to ensure we don't miss the opportunity to witness calving. Next, the guides will give a talk on glaciology.

    Upon reaching the edge of the glacier, with the stunning blue hues of the ice framing the landscape, you will be fitted with crampons and helmets. Once on the glacier, you will receive a safety briefing and then walk to enjoy this frozen paradise, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    The glacier circuit is of medium difficulty; the ice surface is uneven but firm and safe. During the walk, you will be able to appreciate a variety of typical glacial formations such as deep crevasses, blue sinkholes, enormous seracs, and turquoise lagoons.

    After completing the ice walk, you will explore the periglacial zone and the lateral moraine, from where you will enjoy a panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier, the mountains, and the lake. Then, you will begin the return journey along a trail that winds through the lush Patagonian Andean forest, completing the three-hour hike along the lake shore, ice, and forest (of which approximately one hour is spent on the glacial ice). Shortly after, you will board the boat to return to Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, but before departing, you will admire the enormous walls of the glacier from the water.

    The excursion, including transport, lasts approximately ten hours and includes a one-hour guided tour of the Perito Moreno Glacier walkways, located 7 km from the port (this guided tour is not included if you choose the option without transport). There, you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the glacier and explore one of the self-guid
