  • More than a walking tour, this is an invitation to discover Dali through the eyes of someone who has made it home. As a newcomer to Dali, I’ll take you beyond the usual tourist trails and into the rhythms of everyday life here.

    Wander through the untamed forests of Cangshan Mountain, forage for wild mushrooms and wild tea leaves, then return to my home to share tea, stories and the centuries-old wisdom of Chinese tea culture. Explore the colours, flavours and characters of a traditional market, before winding down the afternoon in a tranquil Japanese-style tea house.

    A beautiful blend of nature, gentle adventure, local discoveries, tea and food culture, and meaningful human connections. Not simply a tour of places, but a glimpse into the way life is lived in Dali.

Activity itinerary

At 12:30 pm, we’ll meet at the crossroads of Hongsheng Road and Santa Road. After a short uphill walk, we’ll follow a wild trail into the forest, foraging for seasonal mushrooms (May–October) and discovering wild tea trees.You may even gather some leaves to make your own green or white tea. After two hours slowly hiking up, we’ll go downhill and return to my home to enjoy famous Yunnan Pu’er tea and rose cakes, accompanied by my white Siamese cat, Dumbledore. I’ll also share the fascinating traditions and wellness wisdom of Chinese tea. Around 4:30 pm, we’ll visit the local market near Dali Old Town’s North Gate. Local vendors can help identify our mushrooms.We can either sell them or cook at restaurant, paying some processing fees.Outside mushroom season, I’ll introduce my favourite fruit stalls, authentic rice noodle restaurants and local snacks on the way. We’ll finish around 6:30 pm at a peaceful Japanese-style tea house, enjoying music and a quiet moment before dinner.
