What you can expect

  • Add a touch of adventure to your stay in Linz and go on a mountain excursion to the magical Pöstlingberg Hill. Take the iconic Pöstlingbergbahn railway and see the amazing views over Linz city. Enjoy the best of nature and sightsee the most important landmarks.

For the 3-hour trip to Pöstlingberg, you will meet with your private guide at the Hauptplatz square and hop on the famous Pöstlingbergbahn railway. It takes only 20 minutes to get to the top of the hill on this steepest adhesion railway in Europe and the ride will be enjoyable. Admire the wonderful woodlands and nature as you reach the Bergstation at the top. You will walk to the Aussichtsplattform observation deck to get a sensational view over the whole of Linz, green forest landscapes and distant mountains.

You will also visit Pöstlingbergkirche, the beautiful late Baroque style church that has been attracting pilgrims to Pöstlingberg since the mid-18th century. Inside of this pilgrimage basilica you will see a lush decor, choir, altar and the real treasure - the miraculous figure of Maria Pöstlingberg. This beautiful place is definitely worth the trip up the mountains. Soak up the glorious atmosphere of this place and the splendid nature around you before taking the Pöstlingbergbahn back to Linz.

Choose the 5-hour option to sightsee the Linz Old Town after your short trip to Pöstlingberg. You will explore the most historically relevant and architecturally interesting buildings in the heart of the city. You will stroll through the iconic main square and see the Holy Trinity Column, Old Town Hall and other monuments, such as the Old Cathedral. Enjoy the pleasant Castle Park and pass by the Landhaus to finally reach the monolithic New Cathedral. Throughout this tour you will be captivated by Linz's history, culture and charm.

Join the 6-hour tour to enhance your Pöstlingberg experience with a ride on the Grottenbahn, an underground dragon-express through the world of dwarves, animals and fairy tales. This is the most magical adventure, perfect for families and children. Enjoy a colourful journey through one of the seven fortress towers built in the 19th century and see the miniature world of magical creatures and fairy-tale characters.
