Attend a trek orientation with your guide, covering packing, climate, safety, and altitude tips. Overnight in a lodge in Bumthang.
On day three, drive to Dhur Village, the largest village in Bumthang, and begin your trek through blue pine, birch, and oak forests. Pass the Dhur Hot Spring Trail Junction and arrive at Drangela (or Schonath) camp under tall hemlock trees. Listen to owls calling at night and keep an eye out for monal pheasants, blood pheasants, and Himalayan birds. Enjoy a campfire and Bhutanese storytelling with your guide. Overnight in tent camping.
On day four, ascend gradually to Drangela Pass and reach Kitiphu Ridge, offering panoramic views of Gangkar Puensum (7,570 m), the highest unclimbed mountain on Earth, and Mt. In the evening, watch the sunset from the ridge, enjoy breathtaking Himalayan views, and savour hot Bhutanese herbal tea at camp. Overnight in tent camping on the ridge.
On day five, descend towards Tharpaling Monastery, a historic Buddhist retreat centre. Visit retreat caves and meditation sites of Longchenpa, a 14th-century Buddhist master, and interact with monks to understand Bhutanese monastic life. End your trek in Chokhor Valley, meet your vehicle, and transfer to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy an optional local hot stone bath. Overnight in a Bumthang lodge.
On your final day, visit the Swiss Cheese Factory and Red Panda Brewery, and stop at the Chumey Yathra Wool Weaving Centre for local handicrafts. Continue onwards to Paro/Thimphu or take a domestic flight to Paro.
