You will visit the massive Castel Sant’Angelo built in the first century A.D. it was Emperor Hadrian Mausoleum. Used by Popes as a fortress and as a prison, it is now a Museum. On the spot where it was said St. Peter was crucified, the church of San Pietro in Montorio sits overlooking the eastern slope of Gianicolo hill. Know as “The Tempietto” it is more a sculpture than a building. You will pass by “The Fontanone” a famous monumental fountain. One of the things that Gianicolo Hill is most known for, is the grand sweeping panorama of the city of Rome that it provides.

The splendid Egyptian obelisk surmounting the Lions' fountain, is even more imposing from above.
