What you can expect

See the architectural jewels left behind in northern Peru by some of the land's great rulers. Admire awesome works in precious metals, elaborate friezes, and historic tombs for a look at the civilisations that thrived throughout the pre-Columbian era.

Day 1: After a ride from the airport brings you to your hotel, start your tour with a visit to Huaca Rajada, an archaeological site where the Lord of Sipan was entombed. Next, see the Valley of Pyramids in Tucume, once a major an urban centre, and end the day with a visit to the Royal Tombs Museum of Sipan, which is home to the amazing relics of gold, silver, and precious stones treasures recovered from the tomb.

Day 2: After a visit to the Lord of Sicán museum in Pítipo, the tour takes you to Trujillo to see the Casa Grande sugar hacienda, the Brujo Archaeological Complex and Museum, and a pre-Inca cemetery in the surrounding area. Visit the Lady of Cao Complex to see the well preserved mummy that may have been a ruler of the Moche culture.

Day 3: Visit the Temple of the Moon and the Temple of the Dragon before you arrive at Chan Chan, capital of the Chimu Empire and the largest pre-Columbian city in South America. The tour continues with a visit to the Huanchaco fishermen's cove, famous for its totora reed boats called Totora Horses, before your transfer to Trujillo's airport.
