Day 1: Spirituality & Riverfront Highlights
Start your day at Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Take a boat ride to the exact Sangam point, and choose to take a holy dip or participate in a puja.
Next, visit the Bade Hanuman Mandir to see the unique reclining Hanuman idol. Then, head to the Akshayavat Tree and Patalpuri Temple inside Allahabad Fort (if accessible).
Continue to the 16th-century Mughal Allahabad Fort. Although not fully open to the public, it’s perfect for exterior photography and viewing from the Sangam side.
Stop for lunch at a local restaurant. Choose from El Chico (Civil Lines) for multicuisine, Sagar Ratna for vegetarian South Indian, or local eateries near Katra Bazaar for street-style food.
After lunch, visit Anand Bhavan and Swaraj Bhavan, the Nehru family’s ancestral home, now a museum. See exhibits on the freedom movement and vintage furnishings. Swaraj Bhavan is where Indira Gandhi was born.
Next, visit All Saints Cathedral, one of India’s finest Gothic-style churches, built in 1871. Enjoy the quiet beauty and take some photos.
In the evening, take a walk through Civil Lines, exploring cafes, bookshops, and shops. Try local chaats, kulfi, or jalebi. Optionally, attend the Ganga Aarti at Sangam Ghat.
Day 2: Mughal Heritage + Parks + Local Culture
Begin your day at Khusro Bagh, a walled Mughal garden with the tombs of Prince Khusro (Jahangir’s son). Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, perfect for heritage lovers and photography.
Next, visit the Allahabad Museum, located inside Alfred Park (Azad Park). See exhibits on archaeology, art, Nehru memorabilia, coins, and paintings.
Continue to Chandrashekhar Azad Park (Alfred Park), a historic park where Azad died fighting the British. Take a relaxed stroll and explore the Azad Memorial.
Stop for lunch at a local dhaba or dine again in Civil Lines.
In the afternoon, choose from optional sites or local shopping based on your interest. Visit the Jawahar Planetarium (next to Anand Bhavan) if open, shop for ethnic clothes, jewellery, and sweets at Katra Bazaar, or visit the traditional Shiva temple, Loknath Mandir.
End your trip with a return to Sangam for sunset. Enjoy a calm boat ride or attend the evening aarti.
