Join us on a one hour walking tour of picturesque Machias, Maine. Situated on the Machias River, this small coastal town has a rich history looking back to the first naval battle of the Revolutionary War. Come walk around the city centre area with many opportunities to take photos and ask questions. Our tour guide is a native to the area as well as a trained historian. This one hour jaunt is mostly flat and we will stop along the way to tell historical tales of times gone by. In addition to the Revolution, the tour will also visit and old train depot and discuss the changing impact of it on the area. In addition, no tour of Downeast Maine is complete without talking about the iconic lobster fishing industry, guests will learn about the history of the industry and learn about other important fisheries in the area. This rural location is full of hidden gems! The route of the tour will loop down to the Lee Pellon Centre by Subway to Bad Little Falls stopping at many lookouts along the way.
