Hotel with no air conditioner and noisiness

Posted 28-Sep-2017
It is noisy all the time facing street cars and music performers on the street below your hotel. It is so hot in the room and on the corridor all day long because there are no air conditioner in the rooms and in the hotel. It was very uncomfortable. Do not stay here during summer. The front desk staff is unfriendly. He or she does not give you any receipt unless you ask. Do not expect anything good for the continental breakfast. The tiny bottle of water costs you 2 dollars in the room. It costs you only 24 cents if you buy one at Trader Joe’s near this hotel. It is not worth paying.

Location, location, location

The hotel is conveniently located on the tramway close to Union Square and Powell Street Metro Station. We flew into San Francisco Airport, collected our luggage then hopped on the Metro to Powell and after a 5 minute walk we were checking in. We did a couple of all day tours from pick up points within short walking distance of the hotel. On the last day we had a late flight to Sydney. The hotel looked after our luggage whilst we spent the day on a self guided walking tour, taking in Jack Early Park, Lombard Street and Fishermans' Wharf. They staff were great, friendly, helpful and accommodating. We arrived a little early at check in but they went out of their way to find a room that had been readied. The breakfast (part of the room tariff) was adequate, however, it is best viewed as American rather than international. Overall a good place if you are visiting San Francisco for a few days.

Great staff & location

Posted 28-Aug-2017
Pros: Staff, location, cute building
Cons: Great as is
Location: Everything! Great restaurants/bars on the block, Chinatown nearby, shopping within a block, Powell street right there.
Great staff & location. If you love the city, and don't mind being in the midst of it all, Hotel Stratford is a great option. Maybe not for SF newbies or people who require a lot of space. We really liked it, though.

Ok accommodation, great location

Old hotel with no air conditioning in rooms. However, it meets all your essential needs and is in a top location with the cable teams running passed the front door.

Hotel Stratford

Posted 08-Aug-2017
Pros: The cleanliness
Cons: The continental breakfast was below average.
Location: It was in a high end shopping district, close to Chinatown, but too far away from Fisherman's Wharf.
The staff was very friendly and the premises were exceptionally clean. It was close to the downtown area, but a lengthy walk to the wharf.
