Good old quaint family run beach motel.

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: Locally owned and operated, very friendly staff, a short walk to the beach, one of the best restaurants on the beach.
Cons: Tv's are old crt sets and need to be upgraded to HD, wi-fi would be nice for those who need it. Fridge had no shelves.
Location: Convenient location near Whalebone junction, Jeanette's pier,A short drive to historic Manteo and to Oregon inlet.
Been going to the OBX for almost 50 years, way before the big name concrete and glass high rise hotels and motels and still prefer staying in an old school "homey" motel.

Very, very strange place.

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: The house keepers were really good.
Cons: Put a phone in the rooms and provide wifi since you advertise as having it.
Location: The location was fine, but then again so is every other hotel nearby.
We check in and go to the room and it is clean but very strange. Right away I notice that a lamp and alarm clock on the night stand are not working. This is because there is no outlet to plug either one into on that wall. Also the bathroom's outlet was covered up by the mirror. I try to connect to the wifi that the hotel claims to have in its advertisements but cannot find a hotspot. I was going to use the phone in the room to call the front desk but there was also no phone in the room. When I called the front desk from my cell phone, the desk clerk told me that they do not have wifi and that it is a mistake in all their advertisements. I ask about the lack of a phone and she said they had to remove the phones from the rooms a long time ago. I was relieved to find out that the pool wasn't a false advertisement, however it is located directly adjacent to the dumpsters for the hotel's restaurant.

We didn't stay

Posted 23-Sep-2016
Pros: nothing
Cons: sorry, I don't know.
Location: Nothing to do.
We didn't even stay there, we checked in, looked at the room, drove from Nags Head to Corolla, turned around, gave back the key and headed to Virginia Beach.

older hotel with cheaper prices

Posted 16-Sep-2016
Pros: Location, prices, staff.
Cons: Get wifi
Location: Fishing pier and restaurant walking distance. Jockeys ridge state park and Wright brothers near by.
Staff at Owens and restaurant were great. The hotel is about 60 years old and hasn't changed much. It is in a good location but doesn't have many features. I like the hotel because of its great staff and cheap prices. If your on a budget this is a great place to stay.

It was a nice hotel but the cleanliness wasn't the greatest and we had a lot of bugs in our room

Dated Hotel

Posted 20-Aug-2016
Clean but very dated. Small room. Bathroom including shower was the size of what you would find in a camper/RV-very tiny. Our family of 4 needed more space. The pool was in an unusual location-directly behind restaurant and beside trash containers. Very unpleasant odor when swimming.

Nice motel right on the beach

Posted 10-Aug-2016
Pros: The location was great, right on the beach.
Cons: the decor could have been updated.
Location: Motel is right on the beach. You can walk to Jeanette's Pier in about 5 minutes. It is a short drive from Manteo and Jockey Ridge State Park.
Nice motel in Nags Head. Right on the beach and close to attractions in Nags Head like Jeanette's Pier. For the price, the location is great. It is not a 5 start resort, but being right on the beach made up for that. We had a decent sized room and comfortable bed.

Close to the beach

Posted 08-Aug-2016
Pros: Closeness to the beach and the pool.
Cons: Painting of the paneling in a nice fun light color. Better parking for some rooms.
Location: My daughter and I went go-karting and played mini golf just a 1/4 mile away. ocean just across the street.
I found this motel fine for my one night stay. I don't think I'd pick it for longer than a weekend though. It was fine but I found a few things make me feel a bit "blah" about it. I think the biggest thing was the brown paneling. That may sound picky but I feel for a beach motel it should be bright and "sunny" to put you in a bright and sunny mood. I think just a good coat of light colored paint would make all the difference in the world. I found everything else about the room just fine for the price. It had everything I could want really and it was just across the street from the ocean. It was plenty cold enough in our room and I liked having a fridge, microwave and a little table to eat at. But like I said for me being so dark feeling (except at night where it seemed to be a ton of light coming in our room) was a mood depressor. As for would I recommend this motel to someone, I would, as I know it's a family owned and run business and I'm always for that :) I know they put in lots of time and effort to having people want to stay there again. If you don't mind dark paneling you'd probably find this place nice enough for the price. I think it's a good "few days" type place for the value.

Not worth the money

Posted 04-Aug-2016
Cons: Everything
Short and sweet, I would not recommend this hotel for the price. I paid almost $200 for a room and it was ridiculous. The bed cover, on both beds, stunk like BO...and it was not our BO because we had just got into the room. The lights didn't work and the bathroom had not been cleaned very well. The walls were paper thin...to the point we could hear everything our neighbors were saying and doing. We figured there were about 50 rooms...at $200/night/room...for even 6 months that's $1.8M this place brings in and they can't afford a decent cleaning crew, a few upgrades, and clean bedding. No thank you.
