Lovely hotel couldn't be any closer to St James

Posted 25-Sep-2016
Very friendly staff with lovely recommendations of things to do apart from football Match that was main purpose of our stay. Very modern and spotlessly clean hotel. Excellent breakfast with something to suit everyone including smoked salmon. Had a lovely weekend only downside was the noise from the busy road outside the hotel which meant we were awake earlier than planned. Will definitely be back again.

Great hotel in a great location.

Posted 25-Sep-2016
Pros: Everything was very clean
Cons: Nothing, everything was great.
Location: Vert close to St James Park stadium, lots of shops and places to eat nearby and only 10 minutes from the city centre.
Hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful, I stayed for 4 nights and would not hesitate to stay again.

Up for the GNR

Posted 13-Sep-2016
Great room, but expected it to be larger for a suite. Only a Single chair bed in seating area. Kitchen was good. Aircon or fan,(not sure what it was) was inefficient and very noisy, couldn't hear the tv. Room was very warm.

Perfect for the Great North Run

Posted 12-Sep-2016
We stayed in this hotel the night before running the Great North Run and we're very surprised at how the staff went above and beyond to help in preparation for the run. They hosted a pasta party the night before and runners got free pasta. On the morning of the run they had set out tables in the lobby with runners essentials, everything from water to pins for number badges. They also had maps up to the start line with is literally a 3 minute walk from the front door and staff were quick to offer directions when they saw us looking. Best of all even though we had checked out they let us and other runners take a free shower in the hotel following the run. Will 100% return next time we run the Great North!

Great service and they allow dogs!

Posted 27-Jul-2016
Pros: Parking just across the road was fine. You have to pay for it.
Cons: It would be nice if there was better coffee in the rooms, not just instant. You can get freshly ground coffee from down in the lobby though.
Location: its pretty central, but we spent most of our time down at the quayside which was a 20 minute walk.
Very friendly staff and accommodating. great decor. Shark club next door is OK if you like cheap deals. I would recommend walking for 5 minutes for a better bar though.

Close to city centre

Posted 22-Jul-2016
Pros: Close to city centre
Room smelt of damp. We only stayed 2 nights and everything in our cases smelt of damp when we got home. Air conditioning didn't work and was leaking on the carpet. Wardrobe door kept falling off its hinges. Window was jammed shut. There's not really anything else to say! We would not stay at this hotel again.

Very standard room conditions

Posted 20-Jul-2016
The room was a little musty even with a/c going. The a/c was rather noisy whenever it was started and I doubt it got down to set temperature.

Near Chinatown, Clean and nice

Posted 18-Jul-2016
The hotel is near Chinatown, so we can find places to eat and not far from the station. Rooms are clean and tidy.
