"The property might be rated three star but the staff are rated five star in our mind. They were polite, attentive, efficient and engaging when spoken to. The hotel and the whole of Rutland we found to be really helpful and polite. It`s the way Norfolk used to be but is sadly lacking in a lot of establishments these days. Nice to see that hospitality is still alive and well in Rutland and surrounding areas, The hotel is looking a little tired but didn`t spoil our stay any way, shape or form. Lot`s of rabbit holes around the garden area so be careful if walking off of the paths. We took our dog Oakley with us but unfortunately he had to stay on the lead around Rutland water as it is all about wildlife and the area being eco-friendly. There is an area of about an acre over at Sykes Lane where they can be let off the lead. Oakley, only eight months old was fascinated by the rabbits, birds, sheep and various other animals roaming outside the back of the hotel. He also had a fantastic holiday and was allowed inside parts of the hotel. Thanks to all the staff for a very relaxed visit. "

"Great stay, warm welcome, amazing buildings and grounds. Welcome drinks included, access to the spare with outdoor pool and hot tub, was amazing way to relax after a long drive. Room was great with lot of little touches that made the stay special. Will definitely return "

"this hotel is a little surprise. Doesn’t look much from the outside and not helped by being next to a disused building. However, once you enter it is a very different experience. The hotel is lovely, well maintained and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. We had a family room which was very good, though could do with some better quality bed linen. However, it wasn’t bad at all and we had a pleasant nights sleep. Although we didn’t use it, the bar looked amazing and breakfast in the morning was lovely. Not 5* but given how much this hotel is, it far exceeds expectations. If in Newark and you need a hotel, don’t give it a second thought and book. "
