Great Hotel. Mediocre food.
We booked flight plus half board at the hotel through Expedia. We were disappointed to find the package did not include transfers which had to be booked seperately at extra cost. The hotel apperance and decor were impressive as was its setting. Although on a main street it has screened gardens full of tropical trees around extensive swimming pools. Our twin-bedded room was generous in size and like all the rooms, had a balcony overlooking the gardens and pools. As well as 3'6" beds with sheets, not duvets, there was a two-seater settee and table, a desk area and chair and adequate wardrobe and drawer space. The one ommission was tea/coffee making facilities. Hot drinks cost over two euros each via room service and were lukewarm by then time they reached the room. Similarly, there were no free drinks whatsoever with dinner. you can buy wine or water, but you have to go to the bar after dinner if you want to buy tea or coffee. There was a wide choice of hot and cold food for breakfast but once put out in trays, the 'hot' food was not heated and was often cold before it got on the plate. Ironically, one can have free red, rose or sparkling white wine with breakfast as well as free water, coffee and tea. The dinner main courses on offer were mediocre and again often lukewarm, but with careful choice it was possible to have a reasonable meal most nights. There was musical entertainment after dinner in the bar, mostly a solo performer. The large theatre/cinema room remained locked.
