Surprise fee to start vacation!

Posted 22-Jun-2015
Location: Right on the beach, as are lots of other hotels. Try the Ocean Café down the street for breakfast. Awesome food and bagels and great service.
The hotel is average in pretty much all regards. It's nice looking but plain. Room was OK. Bathroom shower had broken but usable knob to control water. Only freebie was morning coffee. Gym was fine. Pool was average. Hot tub probably below average. Basically, it only had beach access going for it, but my wife didn't like the location because the ocean in front of this property had large rocks that were dangerous (signs were posted as such). Our big issue was that, right when we got there, the lady informed us of a new self-parking fee that just started in May that we'd have to pay, are per day. We tried explaining that when we booked, it was advertised as free parking and we wouldn't have come here otherwise, but she didn't care. She tried some excuse about "you booked through Expedia, so we don't know what you paid..." but she was not friendly or caring at all. I didn't push it further with her. We were disappointed by this.

It was GREAT!

Posted 19-Jun-2015
Pros: Pool and hot tub.
Cons: no children in hot tub. Towels pool side guest could access with room key.
Location: Location was great everything is right in the same area.
I surprised my husband by taking an extra vacation day. We were set at another hotel for most of our stay and the last min. booked a room at the Crown Plaza. It was a great room right next to the pool, lower level. Easy access to everything. Parking was a little crazy but that was the only thing. Staff was very helpful and it you had a questions about the area they had the answer. We are going to be back in the area and will book our room at the Crown Plaza again, but will bring the grandchildren.

Hotel was nice. Location was awesome. Cleanliness was not great. Ceiling tiles falling in. Plug plates loose or missing. Overall though a great experience.

A dependable choice

Posted 16-Jun-2015
Pros: Clean and fresh feeling, upscale but not expensive, friendly and helpful staff
Location: Melbourne Beach is a relatively quiet beach on the Atlantic. Swimming, surfing, shelling. Cape Canaveral is a day trip away.
Traveling to a resort town we knew little about, we decided to reserve a room at a hotel we've stayed in before in another city- The Crown Plaza. We arrived well before the published check-in time. The receptionist checked a found a room that was ready and allowed us to check in early. SO nice. The room was spotless, well-arranged and gave us a view of the ocean .

nice place

Only bad thing was 6$ to park your car after paying top $ for a room. They said because of the locals? They give you a pass so you won't get towed but they charge. Just another underhanded way to make money

Location good but...

Posted 05-Jun-2015
Pros: Location and beach
Cons: Cleanliness and upgrading of doors and A/C units.
Location: Kennedy Space Center an hour away was well worth the visit!
We checked in and the lobby is stark and a little uninviting. Staff was welcoming and cordial. When checking in, we were not aware of a $6 parking charge to park in a parking lot. This was not on the website. We made it to the room and at first glance looked clean, but found a french fry on the floor. Walls are thin and we heard slamming doors throughout our stay. Restaurant/cafe was on the higher side of cost. $9 for fruit and coffee and $16 for a limited buffet for breakfast was excessive, and the overall facility seemed dirty. Location is excellent and the facility with a little upgrading could be really nice, but I would frame the Crowne Plaza of Melbourne as tired.

Excellent location on the beach

Posted 03-Jun-2015
Pros: I liked everything about the hotel.
Cons: The only thing I could say bad was the cleaning guy banged on our room door the morning we were leaving like the cops were showing up. Scared us!!
Location: Lots of other restaurants and beach activities all around.
We stayed for a business trip and I felt like I was on vacation. The room was very nice, very clean and all the furnishings are new. The staff waited on us like a five star hotel. There was a nightly band and each band was really good. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner and the food was good. The location is outstanding!

First time at crowne plaza

Posted 27-May-2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Parking
Location: We used to live in Melbourne. There's the Brevards Zoo. Lots of shopping. Orlandos not far. Cocoa Beach.
When we booked the room they told us we didn't have an ocean view and we were disappointed. But when we got there and we got in the room we loved that we faced south and we could see down the beach. It was awesome on the seventh floor. The staff was awesome and friendly at every station from front desk to bar to restaurant. Loved the extra security at the pool Beds were so comfy! Loved the balcony. You get what you pay for. Loved that you had Kilwins fudge store.
