Great location, friendly staff, reasonably priced.

I couldn't afford anything else in the downtown SF area, so I was glad to find this- the location was extremely convenient. The building had a little normal wear and tear, and the unique elevator is so painfully slow that I took the stairs the whole time. It was clean. The continental breakfast was decent. I will definitely stay here again if they don't raise their prices. The room would be small if I weren't traveling alone, but it was just perfect for my needs.

Basic

Pros: location. cheap for San Fran
Cons: where do I start?
Location: right next to Union square. lots of shops, restaurants and trams
We found the price rather pleasing for San Fran but I guess you only get what you pay for. Plus points apart from Price is the location, right next to Union Square which is good and bad, as I have never seen so many homeless people in this area in my life, but the rooms are clean (except for one day when it didn't get cleaned for some reason) The room we had was rather basic, small, a little depressing, plus it has one of my pet hates, a wash basin in the room instead of the bathroom. Lift was so slow we used to laugh everytime we used it Room have no heating or air com, and the window barely opens, plus it opens onto another building so it barely gets any breeze, its fairly noisy too, you can hear the noise of the city quite easily, especially police cars etc To sum up, its cheap but its more like a hostel rather than a hotel in my eyes. If you are out all the time and you just want somewhere to sleep it may do the job, if you want somewhere to relax after a hard day sightseeing maybe pay the extra and go somewhere else.

Pros: Location, price
Cons: ,,
Location: Good location
Old hotel, good location and fair price for SF, but worn down. No parking place, not even for 10 minutes... Breakfast is ok.

Excellent location, located in downtown

Outstanding. The reception service is amazing. Residents will not get any problem while talking with the front-line staff. The location is outstanding too: 30 seconds to two good fast-food restaurants (pizza and burger house), 1 min to wargreen, 1 min to union square and so forth. The only problems are: no AC at the room, and standard single-bed at the room. Not gd for big guys and AC-lovers.

Good location, good price.

Cons: Breakfast. Off switch for in-room heaters.
Nothing fancy. Just a comfy bed in a super convenient part of the city. The rooms are small, but all I was doing was sleeping there. Did get a little warm in the room from the heater (stayed in early April), but i opened both of the windows and it was fine at night. Breakfast is sad. VERY sad. Let's just say you don't stay here for the breakfast. Also, parking under Union Square was $20~$25/night, which is cheaper than other downtown hotels I have stayed at.

Great price in Superb location

Let's face it, San Francisco ain't cheap. So whilst this hotel may appear overpriced in any other location, in SF you are looking at absolute value for money. Rooms are fairly small (not much room for 2 big suitcases!) but when you realise how close you are to everything, you get over that. Only a block and a half from a BART station, so save yourself some bucks and catch the train from the airport. Historic cable car right out front and all the shops snd restaurants you possibly could need! Easy to get to attractions on the pier too (catch public transport down Market Street then there are plenty of cable cars going from pier to pier). Staff are super friendly and helpful too, and will happily advise you how to get around.

Nice hotel nicer location

Me and my wife stayed here for 3 nights in our recent trip. Great location! 2 min walking from bart station, cable cars and union square. Rooms are tiny but clean. (No A/C but ceiling fan) elevator works slow but who cares :) No waiting when we checked in and out. Overall great value, recommend everyone.
