Close to the beach but not really clean

The room was very run down (there was quite a large dent in the wall, the faucet in the bathtub almost came out of the wall, there were stains on the walls etc). There was a microwawe and a fridge in the room, which was great, but the microwawe hasn't been cleaned in a while. Overall the room smelled damp and wasn't very clean (stains everywhere on the carpet, even on the duvet, chest of drawers really smelled so you couldn't put anything inside). Walls arr thin and there is no elevator. Concerning the rate I paid, I expected more. The staff was kind and there was free coffee available throughout the day.

Had a wonderful time. Staff was great...courteous , helpful, and efficient. Loved the shuttle to the beach.

Very Disappointing

Pros: Nothing
Cons: I don't know what was causing the musty smell maybe the air conditioner unit which probably need to be replaced.
Location: Location is great
I realize this is a older motel but the smell in the room was so bad (strong musty smell) that we actually checked out a day early because we could not take the smell any longer. We went and bought air freshner which did not help at all. We lost money on this stay and will never return to this motel again.

I would rate this motel higher, but the AC didn't work well and didn't cool the room enough. The motel was older and a little dated, but was clean.

Would not recommend this hotel

Room was dirty and needed updated. The walls had big cracks in them and bathroom was dirty. Asked for a different room but they was all booked. Staff was nice and friendly. Offered free breakfast but selection was very limited. Would not stay at this hotel again..

We need one night stay somewhere before getting in our townhouse, would definitely use OBX INN again. Hotel was clean and staff is very friendly.

Friendly staff... but, overdue for a renovation

Pros: Location, (available) beach shuttle, friendly hotel staff, cleanliness.
Cons: Sound deadening, heavier doors, the furniture is tired looking.
Location: Kill Devil's frozen custard/grill. Wright Brother's memorial. Beach access is about a block and a half away. Jeannette Pier about 7 miles away.
First, the hotel staff was great, helpful, and friendly. The room was clean and the external appearance of the hotel is nice. It's convenient to the beach and to everything around Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills. Inside, you can tell that there is some age on this hotel and it's ready for an overhaul. The pressboard furniture, wall/ceiling texture repairs, and bathroom fixtures tell the age. We were in for one weekend night and checked in at around 8:30pm. When we got to our room, the room was sticky, warm, and humid. I live just a couple hours from here so I'm familiar with the climate. We decided to set the unit temp down and go drive around. The A/C had just began to start to catching up by the time we went to bed. If you're staying for a longer period, you should be fine because you will cross this bridge early in your stay. Walking down the corridor to your room, you can hear the goings on of the occupants of each room. It feels like you're in the hallway of someone's house. It's not exactly cheap to stay here so, given the price point, I was a little surprised by the condition. Fortunately, no one kept us up through the night. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast or coffee in the lobby. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean. I would recommend calling the hotel prior to your arrival to see if someone can pop into your room to set down the A/C thermostat.

Outer Banks Inn

Pros: Clean, close to the beach and a great staff!
Cons: Nope. It is what it is.
Location: The Inn is very close to Kitty Hawk (minutes) and not to far (20mins) from Nags Head.
This is not a brand new hotel so don't expect that. But, I didn't go to the Outer Banks for the hotel. What made this a great place to stay was it was clean, close to the beach and the staff is outstanding. Really, a nice and friendly group of people who went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. And, we did! It was a short stay but we were already planning next years visit before we left the Inn.
