Lovely Facility/Disappointing Service

Posted 10-Mar-2014
Pros: Nice clean spacious rooms, Great pools and beach. Food ordered from room service was very good.
Cons: Customer service rooms should have brochures with amenities, things to do, a telephone directory, listing of numbers for room service, Laundry etc
We were welcomed and checked in by Sasha with great service! After a day out we returned and called for an additional towel, after 2 hours and still no towel to the rescue we placed another call to which I was told "Mam you already called for a towel". My answer: If I received the towel I would not have reason to make another call. The towel came after another 50 minute wait. The room had no listing of numbers for room service, housekeeping services etc. No brochure listing the amenities - the drawers were all empty. Went to the front desk to ask about room service - they offered us a copy of the menu and placed the call for us, after placing the order we were informed there was a delivery charge of $30. I asked if they were offsite the facility as we have never been charged a delivery charge for room service, surcharge, gratuity and tax yes but a delivery charge? This was not told to us before placing the order and was told it is hotel policy. The people who made the delivery were quite nice and the food was good - so thankfully there were some pleasant staff that attended to us - overall I think there should be a standard & customer service training offered to all staff & hotel policies reviewed. The Manager I spoke to did not seem able to offer any help and did not seem at all engaged in our complaint! very disappointed guests. Would only recommend with the hopes of a better experience for others as the facility is quite nice. we were a family with a child.

Better off at Mexican Riviera

Posted 03-Mar-2014
Pros: Recently renovated facility, bedrooms a good size if a little spread out
Cons: Get the AC sorted in the Public Rooms and Gym. Good luck with the staff's work attitude.
Location: Resort located on the Atlantic side of the Island which means that it is windy. Comp shuttle available to protected beach. Good Restaurants near by
Resort focused on European guests, not up to the standards of Mexican Riviera or DR. Lacking in public rooms. Lounge bar was so cold that no one would spend any time there, pub is OK but again was empty most nights. Staff were pleasant but disorganized. New General Manager arrived when we were there, hopefully he can make a difference.

Fantastic location and views

Posted 24-Feb-2014
Pros: The location and the view. The rooms are a good size and overall comfortable. The reception staff was helpful and welcoming.
Cons: Service by restaurant staff. The condition of the bathroom. The bed covering uncomfortable and didn't feel clean.
This is was my third stay at the Magdalena. The location is fantastic with beautiful views of the ocean. The food is good. The restaurant staff however could be more attentive. The restaurant is buffet style but we had to wait quite a bit for our drinks and had to ask several times for our water glasses to be refilled. The room and bathroom showed some wear. Overall, I found it the hotel to be overpriced for what was being offered.

Excellent Hotel for Relaxation

Posted 04-Feb-2014
Pros: Everything was fantastic, the comfortable rooms, the hot tub, the proximity to pool and beach, delicious diversified buffet meals, friendly staff
Cons: Everything was great
Location: There are other beaches nearby, Movietown, trip to Buccoo Beef and other tourist attractions.
Upon arrival we were served a cold beverage. The staff was very courteous and friendly at the check-in counter providing us with useful information. Within less than 5 minutes we were escorted to our room by a friendly bellhop who was also very courteous and showed us different areas along the way. The suite was very comfortable with a nice ambience and all amenities that would be required. A modern flat screen television was in every room with multiple cable channels. The hot tub in the gallery was fantastic. Our room was less than a minute away from the secondary swimming pool with the beach just 2 minutes away. The outdoor environment was cool and breezy throughout the day. The buffet meals had a wide variety and very tasty. Overall the staff were all very courteous and friendly. An excellent ambience for a vacation. It was a 3 nights stay so didn't get a chance to explore the other services like the shuttle to Pigeon Point Bay but will certainly be visiting again soon.

Best hotel on Tobago

Posted 16-Jan-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel is set in a wonderful location, with great facilities - golf, tennis, pool, sea. The roms away from the central complex are best - quieter and to both sides of the centre there is a small communal pool - a great idea. You need a car, for at least part of your stay as Magdelena is more than a walk from anywhere and taxit are quite expensive. We will go back - perfect January weather!
