Cons: Sincerement aucun

Nice hotel - Convenient location

Posted 27-Oct-2014
This hotel is convenient to public transport, well maintained with a very helpful staff. A couple of items keep us from giving this hotel an excellent rating: 1) For the size of the hotel, the breakfast area is small, and breakfast selection is limited, especially for the price (15€), and 2) while there is a small kitchen in the room, there is no kettle with which to heat water for coffee or tea.

Issues with Hotel Booking - not what we paid for

Posted 06-Oct-2014
Pros: Decor The room we were given in the end Cafe
Cons: Didn't end up staying in the hotel! Terrible booking system, seems like a bit of a scam!
We booked an apartment room at Boscolo Residence hotel in Budapest. When we arrived, we were told there was a 'problem with the bookings' and that there was no room at the hotel so we would have to be 'upgraded' and stay at the Boscolo hotel around the corner. We weren't too happy about this as we had wanted an apartment and weren't offered much information or any help with our bags etc. However, we tried to keep an open mind and went round to the other hotel, of which the entrance is lovely and grand. We checked in, went to our new room (that was situated in the obviously cheap end of the hotel as it started to get less grand the closer we got!) and were very disappointed. The room was a box room, at least 1/3 the size of the apartment we had booked. To make things worse we had a view of a tiny concrete courtyard, and the bathroom door was broken. We went and complained (which they seemed very used to and weren't shocked at all) and we were then given a bigger room with a nicer view which we were really happy with. The rest of the stay was very nice and in the end the hotel was a great place to stay. I would recommend the actual Boscolo Hotel although it seems very expensive. I would definitely not suggest booking with Boscolo residence as it is very unsure what room you will get. It seems a bit of a scam to gain more customers which isn't really fair especially for a family perhaps that may actually need an apartment.

Stylish rooms but a mediocre neighbourhood

Posted 28-Sep-2014
Pros: Clean, stylish suites. The New York Café in the hotel side is fabulous, so extravagant and decorative and not too expensive for a 5 star location.
Cons: The corridors were very bare and stark - they need more wall paintings or colour to break up the blandness.
The hotel is situated in a mediocre neighbourhood. At night the area, whilst safe, seemed a bit sketchy at night with some dubious characters as we walked back to the hotel. By day I was surprised to see its immediate neighbours were cheap discount clothes shops, fast food places and run down stores. All safe and interesting but not what I usually find next to 5 star hotels. It is next to a mini transport hub for the Metro and trams and so an easy short distance to travel to the centre and anywhere else around town. Suites were fabulous, clean, very modern and stylish with a full kitchen and eating area. The sitting area was good but had a small size screen TV for such a large room. The bathroom was very big but had a few design faults eg the shower head was placed overhead halfway out from the glass screen thus water splashed onto the floor too easily - every day we placed towels on the splash area of the floor to stop the water going everywhere. The shower is in the large bath but has no anti-slip moulding on the bath floor and I slipped badly twice whilst showering so I used the shower in trepidation each time. Bedroom itself was very clean and comfortable. No view as we were on the first floor that looked onto an internal glass roofed area below. The seven floors above blocked much light and thus we could not tell what the weather was like outside (to wear shorts or take a coat ). We were woken by construction drilling inside the hotel twice - unacceptable for 5 stars.

Great experience

Posted 14-Sep-2014
Pros: The cleanliness and the space we had was great and we didn't hear a thing once we were in our room .
Cons: Nothing really… we always make the most of our holiday. Possibly the coffee /tea machine could be hotter !!!
Location: There really isn't too much to see or do near by apart from hundreds of bars .. but a hop on a bus or a tram which stop right outside do the trick
Great hotel, sounds awful ..but we actually loved our apartment far more than the posh hotel. we were upgraded to at the start of our holidays. which was palatial. We didn't really know how much our breakfast was as nobody had explained it to us.. it cost £25 each which was rather steep, although we didn't have to have it , we felt we should for the experience of the New York Cafe . Had i have known i would have had prosecco even at that time of the morning . I felt that maybe as it was their request we moved there that the breakfast should have been on them. The staff were all so helpful and really put themselves out for us . Telling us about the weather and directing us to places of interest etc.
