The Alex
4.0 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, 810 reviews
"Beautifully located right next to Trinity College. It has a very modern, edgy vibe which was fine for the most part, except they didn't accept cash for transactions (I wanted to leave a tip for the housekeeping staff and couldn't break a large bill) and the very high-tech coffee maker in the room that you needed a smart phone to access the directions for, and even then was more than a chore than it should have been. Overall, though, a very fine hotel and VERY helpful staff. "

"I wish I could give more stars than the maximum! Erica at front desk was amazing. Room was clean, modern, comfortable, and spacious. Attached bar and restaurant was large, great menu choices, and good pricing. Hotel location is a short walk or bus ride to major attractions; lots of restaurants nearby. My only wish was for recycling bin in the room but perhaps they separate it elsewhere. Thanks for a great stay! "

"We found the hostel to be clean and comfortable overall. Convenient for getting to the tourist sites. Great value. We had a private room with a queen bed and it was very comfortable although linens were a bit worn. Shared kitchen and bathroom areas were clean. Hot shower was excellent. Bus stop just outside front door. Many shops and restaurants nearby although it's not in the best of neighborhoods. Workmen were there during the day painting walls and working on doorways. They were considerate...

"We enjoyed immensely our stay at the Sandymount Hotel which is a wonderful family run hotel near the picturesque village of Ballinbridge which has an array of restaurants, artisan bakery, a couple of bars and a village green. Sandymount is situated within a quiet leafy suburb. The rooms are very clean with all the facilities you need. One caveat would be that the rooms are quite warm in temperature. Too warm.
