Description

Explore 3 of the most charming areas in all of England with a tour to Stratford-upon-Avon, the scenic region of the Cotswolds, and the mediaeval town of Oxford. Stroll along cobblestone streets and quaint city squares, walking in the footsteps of legends such as William Shakespeare, T.S. Eliot, and Oscar Wilde.

Your day begins with convenient pick-up from 1 of 3 locations in central London. With your knowledgeable guide behind the wheel, travel northwest through the countryside to Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Upon arrival, embark on a guided tour to the sites that help shaped the playwright, from the restored 16th-century home where he was born to the church where he was buried.

Continue on south through the Cotswolds, a rural area marked with rolling hills, weathered ruins, and stone villages. As you drive along narrow one-lane roads, gaze out upon picturesque views of untouched pastures, ancient churches, and thatched cottages. Along the way, we'll see Burford, Bourton on the Water and the Rissingtons before making a stop in the tiny town of Stow-on-the-Wold for lunch in a traditional pub.

Your tour concludes in the mediaeval city of Oxford, home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world. Follow your guide on a walking tour around the Gothic architecture of its 38 colleges, and then step inside the 15th-century Divinity School. Enjoy free time to explore the very streets once walked by T.S. Eliot, Oscar Wilde, and C.S. Lewis before making the drive back to the London.

This tour was perfect - it covered a lot of stops but didn't feel rushed. You should request a tour with Oz because he is knowledgeable, kind, accommodating and has a great sense of humour. He made the history interesting by using stories and current references. It was a really pleasant and interesting day. Two Thumbs Up!
