Description

Discover the long and legendary history of England, from the prehistoric period through the Roman invasion of Britain and finally into the present of the royal family. Visit the mysterious site of Stonehenge, see the ancient hot springs of Bath, and walk the grounds of the world's oldest occupied castle.

Your day begins with convenient pick-up from 1 of 3 locations in central London. With your knowledgeable guide behind the wheel, you travel west through the countryside to Stonehenge, arriving in the mid-morning before the crowds. Here, get an up-close look at the circle of stones that may date back as early as 3,000 BC. Listen as your guide reveals the mysteries and myths that have shrouded the site, and what archaeologists believe to be its original purpose.

Continue on into the idyllic village of Bath, a picturesque city with centuries of history. See the site that was built by the ancient Romans as a spa surrounding the country's only hot springs, which bubble up from the ground at 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 C).

Your tour concludes with time to explore Windsor, home to the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. Learn of the kings and queens who have called the palace home, as well as those who are buried here in St. George's Chapel. Step inside the castle to see opulent furnishings, famous art from the royal collection, and sprawling views of the valley from the 11th-century battlements.
