Santiago: Small-Group Foodies and Sights Walking Tour

by Urban Adventures Duration 4h Free cancellation available No booking or credit card fees
per traveller Price is £60

Meet your guide at La Moneda in the Plaza de la Constitucion, a popular and iconic local gathering place, and head to the neighbourhood of La Alameda, distinguished by its gorgeous architecture that blends the new and old. Explore what’s considered the heart and soul of Santiago, where the city first started, and snap photos of sights like Plaza de Armas as you get a feel for what makes this city so great.

Our first stop will be at one of the best local restaurants we know, who produce mouth-watering new Chilean cuisine. The menu changes every day, so let us surprise you with your dishes!

From there, hop on the metro to travel like a local to the Mercado Central, which boasts some of the freshest produce in the country. Wander around the aisles and watch how locals shop and bargain for deals, testing your own negotiating skills if you’d like before your guide orders some typical Chilean dishes for you to try.

Next, make your way to La Vega Central, a market just on the other side of the Mapocho River that peddles just about everything you can imagine, from souvenirs to healing potions.

Our Santiago tour is then going onwards and upwards — literally! We’re taking the Funicular to the top of Cerro San Cristobal. At the top, you’ll have the best view of the city, so keep that camera handy. You’ll want to show off your awe-inspiring photos to everyone back home, right!

We’ll finish up our Santiago tour in the bohemian Bellavista neighbourhood. A place full of life and arts and crafts. Before you go, don’t forget to ask your local guide for tips on what else to see, do and eat during your stay.

Max was a very friendly and informative tour guide and the food was good. But 3 things can be improved. 1. They should have told us not to eat breakfast. 2. The meeting instruction was not clear and when I called, the person answered the call said the phone number in Expedia was out of date for 4 years. 3. One person in the group got his wallet picked in the metro; the guide should have warned us about crowded subway.

A great way to get the feel of Santiago and enjoy some good food and company. Our guide Jay was very knowledgeable and good fun.
