Every first Wednesday of the month, the Dutch Costume Museum organises a workshop in the UNESCO listed paint stamping techniques from the area of Staphorst. In this region of Holland, women still wear traditional costumes. They elaborately decorate the fabrics for their costumes with very old paint stamping methods that you can try during this workshop.

Skip the line and go straight to the workshop to learn the history and basic techniques of Staphorst Stipwerk. It's done with special textile paint and handmade stamps. Decorate a cotton bag with your own design and take it home afterwards.

Famous fashion designers like John Galliano (Margiela) and Walter van Beierdonck have used these handmade painted fabrics for their men's collection. This was presented on the Paris catwalk in 2016 and 2017.
