Shared Gondola Ride

by Venice Events SAS Non-refundable No booking or credit card fees
Price Not Available

Glide through the canals to see Venice at its best – from the water – and pass through centuries of history. Stunning palaces capture the glamour and elegance of this unique city. This gondola ride is the perfect way to appreciate the charm and beauty of this city built on water.

Today, the Grand Canal today is filled with modern transport, but the gondola is still a very important symbol of the city and holds a valuable place in the history of Venice as an ancient Venetian tradition. Only the most noble and wealthy of families would have travelled around by gondola. In fact, the incredibly wealthy Peggy Guggenheim was the last person to have her own private gondola in the 1960s.

There are less than 500 gondolas on the Venetian canals these days, making this tour a must when coming to Venice. Unwind and relax to the gentle rhythms and movements of the gondolier, and appreciate the skill involved in steering the gondola through the intricate waterways of this breathtaking city.

Gondolier did not sing or even speak to us about anything, much less what we were seeing. Very disappointed in ride. Also instructions not clear on meeting point to get the ride (there are numerous locations to get a gondola for a 1/2-mile along the canal shore.

We were supposed to be there at least 20 minutes early, yet the contact person didn't show up until right on the time we were to leave thus late and seemed disorganized. Our 0940 gondola ride didn't happen until 1004, the gondolier didn't speak but still expected a tip, and it was supposed to be 30 minutes but was approx. 24 minutes. I think it is something tourists feel they have to do when in Venice and don't get me wrong it was nice, but the frustration ahead of time somewhat spoiled the whole experience.
