What you can expect

Enjoy a half-day tour to explore the city of Mingun, 11 miles (17.7 km) upriver from Mandalay. Take a scenic cruise upriver, then see the massive Mingun Bell, Hsinbyume Paya pagoda, and one of the world’s largest chedis that to this day remains unfinished—Mingun Paya.

Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your Mandalay hotel. Then set off up the river on a leisurely cruise on the Irawaddy River. See the mangroves that line the river as you drift by. Your first stop once you’re in Mingun is the 90-tonne Mingun Bell. Hear the incredible sound of it ringing as you take in the sight of the world’s largest un-cracked bell.

Next, you journey to Hsinbyume Paya, a large pagoda on the northern side of Mingun in the Sagaing Region of Myanmar. Continue to the stunning but unfinished Mingun Paya, built as one of the world's largest chedis by King Bodaw Paya. Return to Mandalay by boat, finishing your stunning sightseeing tour with transfer back to your hotel.
